Miami Defeats Tech, 86-61
Dixon scores 21 points for the Hokies

MIAMI, Fla. - The University of Miami defeated Virginia Tech, 86-61, in BIG EAST men's basketball action Tuesday night at the Miami Arena.
The Hurricanes went on a 20-6 run over the final 8:12 of the first half to take a 37-26 lead into the intermission. Miami never trailed in the second half.
Carlos Dixon led the Hokies with 21 points, which ties a career-high for the freshman guard. Bryant Matthews added 12 points for Tech in the loss. Darius Rice and James Jones led the Hurricanes with 16 points each.
Tech was held to 33.3% from the floor, on just 18-54 from the field. Miami hit 28-58 from the floor and outrebounded the Hokies, 39-34.
The game concludes a season-long three-game road trip for the Hokies. Tech, now 8-13 overall and 2-8 in league play, returns to Cassell Coliseum on Saturday afternoon, as they host Boston College at 2 p.m. Miami is 12-9 overall and 4-6 in BIG EAST action.
