Hokies Victorious Over Elon In Men's Basketball
Two Hokies register a double-double in the win

The Virginia Tech Hokies men's basketball team was victorious Wednesday night over Elon College, 66-53 at Cassell Coliseum.

Two Tech players tallied double-doubles in the victory. Freshman Bryant Matthews (Columbia S.C.) scored 16 points and collected 13 boards and Mibindo Dongo came off the bench to score 13 points to go along with his 11 rebounds. The Hokies out rebounded the Phoenix 43 to 26.

Tech trailed the Phoenix 39-40 at the 12:53 mark in the second half. The Hokies broke the game open late in the second half when two freshmen knocked down back-to-back three pointers to give the Hokies an 11-point advantage. Matthews and Carlos Dixon (China Grove, N.C) each knocked down a three-pointer with less than five minutes left in the game to give the Hokies a 58-47 advantage.

Brendon Rowell and Drew Kusterman played strong for Elon in the loss. Rowell totaled 17 points and two rebounds, while Kusterman tallied 12 points and two rebounds.

With the win, Tech improves its record to 3-4 on the season while the Phoenix falls to 4-4. Tech will not be back in action until December 18 when they play host to the East Tennessee State Buccaneers.
